Our Providers

Heather has dedicated her career to caring for mothers, babies, and families. A 1990 graduate of the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Nursing, she has worked in a variety of maternal and child health settings, including high-risk obstetric home health, pediatric offices, and mother-baby care. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 1998 after training under Mary Grace Lanise at St. Luke’s Plaza.

Her own breastfeeding experiences with her four sons inspired her passion for lactation care. Recognizing the limited support available to Northland families, she developed Pediatric Care North’s lactation program with the support of the practice’s providers, bringing outpatient feeding support closer to home.

She finds joy in helping parents and babies build confidence throughout their feeding journey, whether breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. Her special interests include premature infants, helping mothers prepare to return to work, and maternal mental health. She also introduced mental health screening within the practice before it became a standard part of care. Her approach centers on listening to each family’s goals and providing evidence-based information so parents can make informed decisions that support their baby’s health and their family’s well-being.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her four sons and 10 grandchildren, cheering them on at dance, cheer, and sporting events. She and her husband share their home with two very spoiled miniature dachshunds, Hope and Holly. In her spare time, she enjoys beach vacations, flower gardening, and reading.
