Congratulations! The path to parenthood is one of the most exciting and rewarding times of your life- whether you're expecting, adopting, or having a baby via surrogacy- and we are honored to join you in the care of your child.
PRENATAL VISITS
Choosing the right doctor for your new baby is a very important and personal decision, and we encourage you to schedule a complimentary visit with our doctors and our lactation specialists. Adoptive expecting parents are also very much welcomed. This allows you to become acquainted with us and our office. Many of our expecting parents were patients themselves in their earlier days. During your visit we can answer your questions regarding scheduling, hours, newborn care, immunizations, circumcisions, breast feeding, and any other questions you may have.
UPON ARRIVAL
When you go to the hospital, simply tell your obstetrician or the hospital staff that your pediatric care will be provided by Pediatric Care North. Our physicians will visit you and your newborn daily while you are in the hospital if you deliver at our affiliated hospitals. The next step is to schedule a follow-up office appointment within a few days after discharge from the hospital. We recommend that our nursing mothers schedule a follow-up appointment with our lactation consultants within 24 to 48 hours. This enables us to monitor for jaundice, proper weight gain and mother’s milk supply. These are the guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
IF YOU DELIVER AT ANOTHER HOSPITAL
It is important to your baby’s health to have a pediatric evaluation within 48 hours after hospital discharge to prevent such possibilities as jaundice or too much weight loss. If you have not previously notified our office for in-hospital visits, please call to schedule an office visit with one our physicians within 48 hours.
